More Psychosis! News!

Just got more news on the 56-page, horror anthology, Psychosis! #1.
The Perfessor has a pretty nice write-up. (Even if he did contribute one of the stories, he didn’t have to say anything about any of the others.)
You can now buy this critically acclaimed book at Dimestore Productions.
Oh, and the beautiful image above is the work of Melvin Ylagan.
Very talented!
You can get more info at any one of the above links.

By Crom, it’s the Cimmerian barbarian!

"Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet."
--Robert E. Howard, The Phoenix on the Sword, 1932.
You can’t state it any better than the master.

Psychosis! Video!

Wow! This is pretty damn cool.
Mark Mazz of Guild Works Productions just sent me a “trailer“ for the new Psychosis! book. I happily lent my pencil to one of the four covers.
Check out the video trailer Here.
I’ve got to hand it to Ed Flynn, he did a great job on that.
I’m told that the books will be on shelves before Halloween, so be sure to order yours from these great retailers:

...Lucky bastard.

IF: Change

It always struck me funny that comic heros would need nothing more than a pair of glasses to change their appearance. Enough so, that co-workers or even a close friend could not recognize them.
I actually tried this once, it was amazing! I borrowed my grandfathers glasses, went down to the nearest bus-stop and no one there had a clue as to who I was!
In the case of the Spirit, Denny Colt dons a “domino” mask to conceal his identity. I suppose the fact that he was thought to be dead keeps people from suspecting.
The Spirit was created by Will Eisner. One of the greatest and most influential creators of all time, not to mention, one of my personal Idols.

Beware the CREEPER!

I was just recently turned on to the practice of warm-ups, and this is a recent result. It makes a load of sense, and people have been doing it for... ... ...well, ever.
& here I thought I was on the razor’s edge... The pencil’s edge?... Marker?

Sittin' at the Bar

Is it just me, or has Jerry been at the bar for like a week now? ... I guess it’s just me.

I do these pages in my “free” time. The problem is that I seem to have less and less of it, so it takes me for-ev-er to finish 'em. ...and my sleep is starting to suffer.
Stupid non-robot body!

Viva La Color!

I just wanted to add a little color around here. However little it may be.

Psychosis! Cover!

Well, I said that I would post the Guild Works Productions' cover to “Psychosis”, so here’s the mock that Mark sent to me. From what I understand the final cover won’t look much different than it does here. Hopefully I will be able to post my original pencils soon too. I’ve just been so busy. Yeah, I know you’ve heard it all before ... but it doesn't make it any less true.

Hey, Bartender!

I still have yet to scan in the cover for the Guild Works book. Hopefully next week.
For now, howsabout some Kwiddex Protocol sequential art? Eh? ...Eh?! All fresh & new!
Pretty straight forward stuff here, Jerry goes to an old watering hole of his to try & unwind.

Actually, I just noticed that I didn’t add the storefront names to the signs in panel 1 yet...
Dang. Well, no rest for the weary. Better get back to work.

Our Flag Was Still There...

This is page number one of “Our Flag Was Still There”, a story written by Jason DeGroot about the times following the 9-11 terrorist attacks and how we perceived our American flag. Very compelling stuff, I just hope I’m able to do the script justice.
Oh, I think the paint is still a little wet in that one corner, so try to be careful.

Once again, I’ve been hard at work with various projects, and as soon as I can I’ll post some of the other work I’ve completed. Including a cover for Guild Works Productions' “Psychosis”. Not to mention s'more interior pages from “the Kwiddex Protocol”.

See you then...

Who Farted?!

Here is the latest from the Kwiddex Protocol from Repercussion Comics.
This is actually a pretty serious scene from the story, but I can’t help but make that childish comment about the look on Jerry’s face in the second panel. It doesn’t help that it almost looks like he is sniffing his sleeve in the last panel... Ha... Lowbrow humor. Hello, old friend.

More to come soon.

Roll that beautiful bean footage...

I kind of doubt that’s what’s on the tape Jerry is focused on, but hey - I can hope.

...What can I say, I like beans

As Close to Perfection as I’ll Ever Get.

On Thursday morning, June 22nd at 7:08 a.m., my daughter Courtland Marie (perfection in blue) was joined by her sister Sophia Irene (perfection in pink).
I won’t sit here and gloat, as I have too much work to do. I will however say; It’s good to be the King!

The Protocol of KWIDDEX

Here are a couple more preview pages from issue #1 of the Kwiddex Protocol.
I don’t think it’s giving too much away by revealing that our lead Character, Jerry is getting sent home by his Captain.

Not Dead, Just Sleeping

Wha?! ...Must have dozed off for a second. ...humpft!

Actually, I’ve just been EXTRA busy lately.
No, really! What? You don’t believe me? I can prove it!
Here are just a few pages from the Kwiddex Protocol, a book I’m illustrating for Repercussion Comics written by Jason DeGroot.

So there!

IF/MM: FAT

There were so many possible ways to have taken this Illustration Friday topic. To keep up with the Mythic Monday theme here I went with a corpulent troublemaker from Celtic Mythology: Conán mac Morna. Conán was also known as "the bald". He was a member of the Fianna. Headed by Fionn mac Cumhail (AKA: Finn mac Cool), the Fianna has been compared to the knights of the round table. It has even been speculated that the Aurthurian legend may have been based on the stories of the Fianna. Though Conán mac Morna was known to be hot-headed, he was also known to be very brave and loyal to Fionn. Check out more here: http://www.shee-eire.com.

IF/MM: Under the Sea

Well once again it’s time for MYTHIC MONDAY! (on Tuesday)
The Illustration Friday topic is “Under the Sea” and so, I waded back into some familiar territory: Norse Mythology to take on one of the nine daughters of Ægir.
Ægir is a giant (or Jotun) and he rules all that exists beneath the waves. Hence his nine daughters are names for types of waves.
His Billow Maidens are:
Himinglæva - That through which one can see the heaven.
Dúfa - The Pitching One.
Blóðughadda - Bloody-Hair.
Uðr - Frothing Wave.
Hrönn - Welling Wave.
Bylgja - Billow.
Dröfn - Foam-Fleck.
Kólga - Poetical term for Wave. "The Cool One"
and here we have Hefring - Riser.
Ægir is known to throw huge parties for the Norse gods. His daughters would help him brew ale in a gigantic pot in preparation for these parties. So I imagine Hefring would be kind of like a giant Paris Hilton.
